Electric Skylights

Electric roof windows, also known as electric skylights provide easy access to flat roofs, roof terraces and gardens. Top quality European motors are used to ensure reliability for years to come. Precisely engineered and manufactured to the highest standards, we’re confident our electric roof windows are amongst the best on the market. The thermally broken aluminium frame reduces the risk of condensation and we recommend purchasing the optional battery back-up that enables continued opening or closing during a power cut. The external key-switch means that the electric roof windows can be closed if required while people are on the roof, but opened again from outside. Non-standard electric skylight sizes are available up to approximately 2 SqM (subject to width/length ratio) and come in a range of glass options include blue, grey or neutral solar control. Quick to install; a clear wiring diagram ensures straight forward connection.

If the height above floor level exceeds 5M, please contact our Technical Department as glass specification likely will need to be upgraded in order to comply with Building Regulations.

FAQS

  • How Do Electric Rooflights Work?
Electric rooflights come in two variations, central-panel and remote-controlled. All electric rooflights run on an electric motor that is connected to the main electricity source of the building. If you don’t trust yourself with a remote control because you think you might lose it, you could opt for installing a switch plate into the wall. A switch plate will allow you to control the electric rooflights easily without fear of losing it.
  • How Long Do Electric Rooflights Last?
By following the recommended guidelines for rooflight maintenance, electric rooflights can last up to 25 years. At Rooflight Centre, we offer a 10-year guarantee on all our products to ensure you get the best quality products for the lowest prices. The electrical components of our electric rooflights are protected by highly durable materials which prevent the possibility of water damage or deterioration of the wires, so you can rest assured your electric rooflights will last.
  • How Do You Clean Electric Rooflights?
The procedure for cleaning electric rooflights is the same as for ordinary rooflights. All you need is a soft cloth and warm water. You could opt for a high-quality glass cleaner to reduce the streaking, but it is vital that you always use nonabrasive cloths to maintain the quality of your panes and surrounding fixings. The warm water will lift the dirt, and the cloth will gently wipe it away without leaving scratches. We recommend that you avoid cleaning the glass in the midday sun, as this can lead to the appearance of scuff marks and streaks.
  • Do You Need Planning Permission For Electric Rooflights?
When it comes to electric rooflights, no planning permission is required unless your windows protrude more than 150mm above the existing roof plane. In this case, it is best to get a professional opinion before installing your electric rooflight to ensure you’re adhering to the relevant regulations.
  • Are Electric Rooflights Easy To Install?
Our electric rooflights are designed with ease of installation in mind to ensure you get the product you want in the shortest possible time. Although we recommend you consult a professional to install your rooflight to reduce the chance of mishaps, they’re very user-friendly and can be fitted quickly.
